Inspired by the enduring charm and design of her first home, an 107-year-old beauty in the historic Hawthorne Neighborhood of Fargo, Emily Johnson founded Hawthorne Home to preserve and reimagine classic interiors for modern families. The result is warm, layered spaces which embrace the craftsmanship of a bygone era for modern living.

With her quirky humor and inquisitive nature, Emily starts each project with a good conversation, strategic questions, and comprehensive planning. Her enduring client relationships are rooted in clear communication, ongoing collaboration, and transparent project management.

Emily brings a layered, hands-on approach to family homes honed by her international education, professional work and upbringing as the second-oldest of nine siblings. Her unparalleled attention to light, color and residential architecture informed her masters’ degree from the University of Bristol in Bristol, UK. After years of living and working in Minneapolis and Manhattan, Emily lives in Victoria, Minnesota with her husband, three children and two Scotties.
